The Portland Trailblazers have the distinction of having the longest current playoff season streak in the NBA. They've made the playoffs for more consecutive years than any other team. More than the Lakers. More than the Knicks. Even more than the Bulls during the Jordan era.
The Blazers acheived a peak in the early 1990's when they reached the Western Conference Finals three consecutive seasons. They reached the NBA Finals twice in that span, coming up short each time. The unit was led by future Hall-of-Famer Clyde "The Glide" Drexler. But what made the Blazers a championship contender was teamwork and chemistry. Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, and Kevin Duckworth already formed a fine supporting cast. But it was the additions of veteran Buck Williams and draft-pick Cliff Robinson that brought the Blazers to new heights. Under Head Coach Rick Adelman, Portland became one of the most exciting teams in the NBA, in addition to one of the best.
However, as the decade progressed, Portland's success regressed. Massive changes both on and off the court eliminated the unique chemistry the Blazers had acheived. While Portland's roster has remained filled with talent over the years, the team hasn't been able to become a title contender until recently.
Below are a few images of Clyde Drexler, the best player to ever put on a Blazers uniform. Although he wasn't able to win an NBA Championship with Portland, he did win one with the Houston Rockets.
